I love many books. That isn't as high a bar as it might seem. But it is rare to find a book that, as the saying goes, "I couldn't put down." They are usually non-fiction and often memoirs. They often also describe a subculture or knowledge that is pretty narrow and I usually find them inspirational in some way. An example of some of the books I couldn't put down include"Born Standing" by Steve Martin"Kasher in the Rye" By Moshe Kasher"Fooling Houdini" by Alex Stoneand "Refactored" By Sean RogersAnd in many ways This book had a far more Herculean feat than the others, because it was largely about coding. A memoir about stand up comedy or stage magic seems infinity easier to write than the incredibly dry subject of computer programming. But the author does it. He does it while being concise, easy to read and funny. (You may notice that two of the other books are by comedians and I found this book to be as funny as either of them.) You can probably read the description to get a rundown of the plot. The author has tremendous bad luck including a layoff and decides he needs a career change so he signs up for a coding boot-camp. I have no immediate interest in a career change myself, but if you are thinking about doing one of these coding boot-camps, definitely read this book. You are sure to get some helpful advice. He describes many of the mistakes and misconceptions that ended up creating hurdles for him. If you're not thinking of learning to code, pick it up anyway, it's fun, engaging and makes you want to work harder to achieve something important. And hopefully you also won't be able to put it down.
